The Advanced Manufacturing Park The Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) is a world-class manufacturing technology park providing advanced solutions to ensure repetitive advantage for industry.
Technologies on the AMP centre on materials and structures, covering metallic and composite materials; typically used in precision industries including; aerospace, automotive, sport, environmental and energy, oil and gas, defence and construction. www.ampwaverley.com

Affiliated Centres of Excellence One such change is that the old Greenchemistry CIC has now become the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence.
The Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York is a world leading research centre which aims to promote the development and implementation of green and sustainable chemistry and related technologies into new products and processes.
The Centre is associated with or administers a number of green chemistry activities in the areas areas of research, industrial collaboration, the development of educational and promotional materials and networking both with academia and industry. www.greenchemistry.net

The Centres of Industrial Collaboration provide business friendly access to the knowledge in our region's universities. The 12 Centres enable business to connect with university expertise to innovate and grow. The Centres cover a variety of disciplines ranging from medical technologies, advanced materials, through product design and manufacturing, to environmental sciences and digital technology. www.yorkshirecic.com/

Connect Yorkshire is the fast-track to growth for Yorkshire's technology and life-science companies. It links young knowledge-based enterprises to the resources they need to succeed. www.connectyorkshire.com

The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills brings together functions from two former departments. Science and innovation responsibilities from the Department of Trade and Industry. Skills, further and higher education from the Department for Education and Skills. To build a dynamic, knowledge based economy the new Department will draw together the nation's strengths in colleges, research, science and universities. http://www.dius.gov.uk/functions.html

Knowledge RICH provides a free service to connect businesses to experts and facilities in the region which can help turn innovative ideas into a reality. Knowledge RICH provides access to regional experts in science, technology and innovation who can help businesses with research and new technology development. The service can also locate world class equipment, facilities and services to support research, testing, new product and process development. www.knowledge-rich.com/

Grant for Research and Development (Small Medium sized companies) The Grant for Research and Development is a DTI funded scheme, managed in this region by Yorkshire Forward. It is aimed at helping businesses to carry out research and development work that will lead to technologically innovative products or processes. It is suitable for individuals planning to start up businesses in England and at businesses with fewer than 250 employees already operating in England www.yfgrd.org/

Industrial Research and Development Award for Large Companies The Yorkshire Forward Industrial Research and Development Award for Large Companies is a scheme approved by the European Union.
The current award will run until 31 March 2008, however, there is currently no Call open for applications.

Innovation Relay Centre One of Europe's greatest strengths is science and technology, and Yorkshire and Humber must be in a position to exploit this resource.
The Innovation Relay Centre, based at Beta Technology, offers regional business a means of exploiting their technology or finding new business critical technologies by networking with over 220 other offices throughout Europe. The IRC provides a range of free innovation services including technology audits and technology brokerage, intellectual property and licensing advice. The IRC also provides guidance on how SMEs can benefit from European research funds. www.innovationrelay.net/

MAS (Manufacturing Advisory Service) MAS provide access to practical manufacturing advice and support to help businesses improve their productivity and efficiency levels. The majority of these services are delivered for free or 50% grant subsidised. www.mas-yh.co.uk/

Micro and Nanotechnology (MNT) Yorkshire Forward's MNT programme is helping industry harness the commercial opportunities offered by Micro and Nanotechnologies. Over £5m has been invested in teams at the universities of Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield and York. New core facilities have been built; notably world-leading characterisation capabilities (York), polymer and micro-moulding (Bradford/Sheffield) and nano-particulate products (Leeds Institute of Nanomanufacturing).
Effective signposting has been achieved through the Nanofactory portal – giving industry a single point of entry to facilities, research and training capabilities across all the regional university providers. www.nanofactory.org

Science Business Publishing Ltd is a London-based media company focused on R&D investment in Europe. It reports news daily online and in a weekly newsletter, and organizes events to bring together public-sector researchers, corporate partners and policy makers. It was founded in 2005 by the former managing editors of the Wall Street Journal Europe and leading science journal Nature, and works with a network of 10 leading European research universities. Strategic Sector Champions The Strategic Sector Champions are experienced industrialists, recruited to identify opportunities for collaboration and broker relationships between industry and the science base. There are currently four Strategic Sector Champions, covering the digital, chemical, bioscience and food and drink sectors.

Yorkshire Forward Industrial Research and Development Award for Large Companies This is to encourage large companies in Yorkshire and Humber to carry out new research and development with commercial potential. Aim for this grant support is to enhance growth, strengthen competitiveness and boost employment in the region. Awards provided to support industrial research and pre-competitive development projects, or a combination of these which are carried out by large companies in the region. www.yfird.org/AllUsers/Home.aspx

YSTN Established by Yorkshire Forward in 2005 as an extension of the KnowledgeRICH service, the Yorkshire Science and Technology Network allows companies to foster links and develop partnerships with regional businesses and the regional academic community. Since its launch, over 220 individual companies have taken advantage of this opportunity and have helped to shape one of the most successful knowledge transfer networks.
